Structural safety
The safety that comes with toughened glass cannot be compared to that of normal glass. If a regular glass breaks, it shatters into random pieces of shards which can cause injury. But in the case of toughened glass, it shatters into small granular pieces that are very safe.
Toughened glass is chemically and thermally treated
Heat and chemical processes are used in the production of toughened glass—this makes it more long-lasting and of course, stronger than the regular glass. However, prior to this treatment, the glass must be cut to size as it cannot be altered after treatment.
Laminated toughened glass
You can have your toughened glass laminated by adding a plastic interlayer between the two glass panels. This plastic interlayer is usually made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB). But a lot of materials can be laminated in the plastic layer, including patterned flower, dried leaves, and others.
